In fact, it’s caused quite a lot of outrage.
Rightly so in my opinion.
To the point where there is even a petition to get the manufactures (Nestle) to begin making and producing them again.
It started in 2019.
And there are over 3250 signatures at the time of writing!
I even found a Facebook Page called “Bring Back Laffy Taffy Watermelon With Seeds”. That has 3.4k followers/3.4k likes.
But all is not lost.
You can still get Watermelon Laffy Taffy.
And they’re still great.
Just not as good.
There really was something about those seeds!
Why Did They Take The Seeds Out Of Watermelon Laffy Taffy?
Nestle took the seeds out of Watermelon Laffy Taffy due to ongoing and repeated complaints. The black seeds often fragmented, and customers often thought that there was something wrong with the bar, or it was inedible.
So Nestle took the executive decision to just remove the seeds altogether.
Better that than complaints and refunds, at least.
When Was The Watermelon Laffy Taffy With seeds Discontinued?
Watermelon Laffy Taffy with seeds were discontinued in the late 1990’s, early 2000s.
That being said, while the seeds were removed, the bar and flavor still continues to this day.
They are just a seedless, variety!
Will Nestle Bring Back Seeds To Watermelon Laffy Taffy?
It is unlikely that Nestle will bring back the seeds to Watermelon Laffy Taffy.
At this stage, your guess is as good as mine.
Sure they could relaunch them.
But due to the underlying reasons why they were discontinued I’d say it is unlikely to happen.
To change the entire manufacturing process.
To possibly start getting those complaints coming back in.
