There was something about the Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops.
That iconic nostalgic packaging.
I remember them fondly.
I was actually in the mood to get some and relive some of my youth. But I struggled to find them.
Immediately the question dawned…
But can you still get them? Are they still being made?
Well, the truth hurts, I’m afraid.

Can You Still Get Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops?
You can no longer get Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops. They were discontinued by the manufacturer The Hershey Company, in 2006.
That isn’t to say that Jolly Rancher Lollipops are not still being made and sold.
They are.
But they are more of a cylinder shaped sphere now:

Thankfully, they do still sell all the original flavors: pink lemonade, cherry, watermelon and apple.
So while they’ve definitely gone through some changes, there is some good news at least.
But are they as good?
Well, you aren’t going to get that smooth exterior like you used to.
But that doesn’t mean the latest version isn’t any good.
What Happened To The Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops?
Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops were rebranded. While retaining the original four classic flavors, they were reshaped and are now sold under different packaging.
Apparantly, this is due to customers opinions and feedback.
Quite ironic really considering there is a huge wave of fans, me included, who long for the old square-version.
Will Hershey Bring Back Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops?
It is unlikely that Hershey will bring back Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops. That would require significant resources, rebranding, to name but a few other complications.
In fact, some customers have even directly reached out to Hershey to ask for them to be re-manufacturerd.
And those requests have been submitted over 10 years ago.
Still no sign of Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops.
Even if the idea has been entertained by Hershey.
At least, thats what customer services have relayed to such requests before.
I guess for now, only time will tell.
But it does seem unlikely that our favorite candy stores will stock Square Jolly Rancher Lollipops once more.
In the meantime, we will have to settle for the new version.
