We love candy, and that’s why it sticks around, waiting for us diligently on the store shelves. But some candies are loved more than others. And not every candy sticks around on the store shelves forever. Yet some candies aren’t around for too long at all.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering if Skittles Dips are still around.
Yes, I remember that candy line you’re talking about.
The yogurt-coated fruit candy is based on the original Skittles flavors.
Hmmm. Yes, come to think of it, I haven’t seen a bag of Skittles Dips for a long time.
Perhaps they have been…discontinued!
I’ve got my detective hat on. It’s time to investigate this matter. What has happened to Skittles Dips? Let’s find out, shall we?
So, have Skittles Dips been discontinued? It would appear that Skittles Dips has been discontinued indefinitely. Thus, they are largely impossible to buy (at least from major retailers. If you do manage to find them, it would likely be through independent sellers or those who reserved packs.
Let’s continue to investigate.
Do They Still Make Skittles Dips?
No, they don’t make Skittle Dips at all. They no longer manufacture them, produce them, distribute them or sell them!
Skittle Dips are, or should I say, were a relatively very new line of Skittles candy.
Here, in our home of the US of A, Skittles Dips was officially launched in February 2020.
Skittles Dips were packs of yogurt-coated fruit candy.
The flavors of these candies were based on the original Skittles flavors that you get in their normal packs as well as their other candy ranges, such as Sour Skittles.
These flavors are strawberry, orange, grape, lemon, and green apple.
But each one was coated in a creamy white yogurt coating as if they’d been dipped inside, yes, you guessed it, yogurt.
This is no doubt how the candy makers came up with the name Skittles Dips because they were Skittles that had been dipped in yogurt.
Genius, right? Or perhaps not! Because Skittles Dips didn’t stick around for long at all.
They very much were back in 2020, but since then, I can confirm that they have been discontinued.
You can’t buy them from anywhere. Not even at Amazon.com, which stocks all the best candy in the world.
It’s unclear exactly when Skittles Dips was discontinued; however, as it’s now 2022, it’s obvious that they didn’t stick around for long.
Now, this doesn’t mean that Skittles Dips will be gone forever. The candy makers at Skittles will still have the recipe; no doubt locked away in a safe.
So there is always a chance that Skittles Dips will be made again. As there has been no word from the company, it doesn’t look like that will be anytime soon.
There is also a chance that Skittles Dips will never be made again.
After all, there is an important reason why they’re no longer being made…
Why Were Skittles Dips Discontinued?
Skittle Dips were probably discontinued because they weren’t popular enough for Skittles consumers. Consequently, they wouldn’t have been bringing in enough income for Skittles, which would leave them no other choice but to discontinue them.
No official statement for the discontinuation of Skittles Dips seems to be available.
But by reading consumer reviews, you can probably guess why it happened.
Although never count Covid out of things. After all, Skittles Dips were released in February 2020, just when the world started to go into lockdown.
The reality probably was that Skittles Dips were just nowhere near as popular as original Skittles or Sour Skittles.
This is the case for a number of reasons.
Some people didn’t find them that snackable.
Others just weren’t keen on the yogurt coating.
Now, of course, I am not suggesting for one moment that nobody out there enjoyed.
Skittles Dips. You probably did it yourself. That’s why you’re here.
But it just wasn’t enough for Skittles Dips to avoid discontinuation.
And sadly, whilst I’m sure the candy makers at Skittles would appreciate that you like their Skille Dips recipe, they can’t just make them for you and a few others. It’s not in the company’s interests.
Again, I exaggerate. It wasn’t you and a few others. But let me explain a bit more about the business side of the decision to discontinue Skittles Dips.
The biggest candy makers love to adapt, reinvent and experiment, you see? They are candy makers, after all.
Making candy is what they do. So the candy makers at Skittles didn’t just make the original candy recipe and then skip off into retirement.
They’ve carried on adapting and making new lines of Skittles candy.
Sour Skittles came in 2000, for example, and have not been discontinued at all since.
Why have Sour Skittles survived so long when Skittles Dips seemed to be out of the market before they’d come in?
It all comes down to success. Sour Skittles have survived because they’re really popular amongst candy lovers. They get bought and eaten. And that’s the magic formula.
Skittle Dips would have been bought and eaten. They just weren’t bought and eaten enough because they weren’t as popular amongst Skittles eaters.
The majority of the time a candy is discontinued, it is to do with the lack of financial success the candy is bringing in and also if it’s not gone down well amongst customers in
terms of its actual taste and texture.
Both these reasons for discontinuation are interlinked, as you can probably guess.
And it would seem that this was the case for Skittles Dips.
Alternatives To Skittles Dips You Can Still Get
You can find other yogurt-coated candies, but it is a rarer combination than you may think.
Skittles Dips didn’t do so well. Maybe it’s because the combination of yogurt and candy just isn’t too palatable for candy eaters.
It would make sense that candy companies have realized this, as there really aren’t too many other yogurt-coated candy products out there on the market.
Now, this might be a big shame for you, someone who loved Skittles Dips. Well, don’t worry because it’s not all doom and gloom.
I mean, you could make your own Skittles Dips? After all, all you have to do is buy a pack of skittles, whip up some yogurt, and then dip your Skittles in the yogurt.
I’d say put them in the fridge for a bit, and voila! You have your very own homemade and probably quite makeshift Skittles Dips. It’s worth a try, right? If you loved them that much!
Unfortunately, I can’t foresee Skittles Dips being brought back anytime soon.
Remember, they were probably discontinued because they weren’t popular enough. So Skittles would need to be sure that there was a significant demand for them.
Otherwise, if they started making Skittle Dips again and put them out on the shelves, the same thing might happen.
They wouldn’t make enough money, Skittles would make a loss, and they’d need to discontinue them again.
On the other hand, Skittles might fancy another go with Skittles Dips.
They may say, ‘hey, it’s been a while since we first released them; maybe things have changed, so let’s try again.’
And that could very well happen. Customer demands do change.
Who knows what will happen in the next few years? Maybe they’ll discover some crazy new health benefits in yogurt.
Then yogurt-coated products would be through the roof, and I’m sure Skittles would be ready and raring to get their Skittles Dips back out there.
Now I do have a few final recommendations for you.

Alas, it is true! Skittles Dips have been discontinued, and they probably will be for some time.
It’s all down to how widely popular a candy is when it comes to its survival.
Never say never. Because who knows? In a month’s time, Skittles could release a statement announcing that Skittles Dips is back on the production line.
If not, there are still plenty of Skittles candy lines for you to enjoy.
