Every year, new candy brands emerge in the market, and existing brands release new lines of their popular ranges. Unfortunately, it also goes the other way. Older brands shut up shop and stop producing their once-popular candies and treats. But is this true of Nips candy? Are they no more? Is it still possible to get them? Well, here is everything you are going to want to know.
So, have nips candy been discontinued? Nips candy has not been discontinued, though they are not produced by the same manufacturer that initially launched them (Pearson. They are now sold under the Brach’s name; a brand of the Ferrara Candy Company.

Do They Still Make Nips Candy?
They do still make Nips candy. However, instead of being made by the Pearson Candy Company, their original creator, they are now made by Nestle’.
Once upon a time, specifically in 1928, a man called Barney Pearson formed the Pearson Candy Company, Inc. in Culver City, California, United States of America.
Pearson would go on to manufacture and produce 30-plus candy products for the people of America and the world to enjoy.
Please note that Pearson Candy Company, Inc. is not to be confused with Pearson’s Candy Co.
These are two completely different candy companies.
When we’re talking about Nips candy, we’re talking about Pearson Candy Company, Inc.
One of the company’s candy products, and perhaps their most popular, was Pearson’s Nips.
But alas, the company could not live forever, operating for 42 years until they were sold in 1968 to W.R. Grace Company.
Then they were sold again in 1982 with W.R. Grace Company to RJR Nabisco.
And then finally, the Pearson Candy Company, Inc. was sold to Nestle’, which is where they have remained since.
And yet, Nips, the luscious, delightful caramel candies that burst onto the scene back in the 60s…survived.
Despite all these changes in ownership, Nips have survived.
And it’s no wonder.
They are loved and revered for their combination of milky, chocolate, caramel, and coffee flavors, all delivered with a silky, smooth texture.
Pearson Nips were the go-to for workers on a coffee break.
All they had to do was unwrap one of these nostalgic delights, although at the time they were fresh and new, and enjoy the Nip whilst it gave them a caffeine boost for their next shift.
If that’s still what you want to do, then guess what? You still can because Nestle manufactures, produces, and distributes Nips still today.
Where Can You Still Get Nips Candy?
You can still get Nips candy from candy stores and online. Some of the places you can get them from include oldtimecandy.com, Amazon.com and Walmart.
Nips candy isn’t as easy to come by as they once were. There was a time when you could walk into most candy stores and find a jar full of Pearson Nips just waiting to be purchased and devoured.
Now they’re a bit harder to come by.
The good news is that you can still get them. And you have quite a few options to choose from.
I’m going to talk through some of the most popular places to source your Nips candy.
Starting with…
Old Time Candy
Old Time Candy is one of my favorite stores for buying nostalgic candy online.
They sell five different flavors of Nips there, including: butter rum, caramel, chocolate parfait, coffee and peanut butter.
Amazon
Yes, one of the biggest, most famous companies of the 21st-century stocks Nips candy. Of course, they do! Tell me something they don’t stock.
Amazon is actually my favorite place to buy candy for several reasons.
The first is that they offer great accessibility to bulk buying. If you want to stock up on a load of Nips candy, then Amazon is probably your best bet.
They’ll sell in bulk to you at excellent money-saving rates.
Amazon is also very fast when it comes to delivery. It’s part of the reason they’ve become so successful.
My rule is if it’s urgent, visit the store. If I’ve got time, I’m ordering a big fat bag at a money-saving price!
Not only this, Amazon is the online eCommerce store for a reason.
They have strict policies before sellers can list on their platform, too, so you can ensure you are buying from reputable sellers and verified merchants!
Walmart
One of the most widely used grocery stores in our very own US of A is Walmart. And the good news is that they, too, stock Nips candy.
So if you need a quick fix of Nips candy and you’ve got a Walmart down the road, get down there because there’s a high chance they’ll have it stacked on the shelves.
Other Candies Like Nips Candy If You Can’t Get Them
If you’re really struggling to locate some Nips candy, then don’t be too alarmed. They are caramel candy, so there are many other candies like them in the market.
Now it must be said that Nips candy is quite different because it is a milk-based hard caramel, which is what makes it so silky, smooth, and creamy in texture.
Yet there are many great alternatives out there.
Today we’re going to talk about some of the best candies out there that are similar to Nips candy.
All of these caramel candies can also be purchased from Amazon.com.
Oh, and also be careful and make sure you check the full ingredients list because some of these caramels may contain ingredients that you could potentially be allergic to.
Werther’s Original Soft Caramels
Just like Pearson Nips, Werther’s is an age-old household brand in the caramel candy world.
They, too, are known for their silky, smooth, and creamy textures, although they are a bit softer than Nips.
They taste fantastic, owing to the presence of real butter and fresh cream in their production process.
Goetze’s Caramel Creams
Made with real, wholesome milk, these caramels give you a clue in their name as to what they are like to eat. Creamy!
So if the creamier the caramel is, the better, then these could be the ones for you. What’s most impressive about these caramels?
The fact they’re still being made by this company after 125 years!
So if you really are looking for a nostalgic taste, and I mean, to taste something also tasted by someone in the 19th century, then look no further than these caramels.
Tara’s Handcrafted Sea Salt Caramels
A wrapped caramel candy, these delights are for anyone who enjoys that distinctive taste of the sea…without the dirty water, of course.
Caramel lovers love these because they don’t stick to your teeth as much as other caramels.
They owe this trait to the fact that these caramels are kettle-cooked in tiny batches.
Tom & Jenny’s Sugar-free Classic Soft Caramels
Looking to keep your sugar intake low? Then these could be the caramels for you.
You can pick from 5 wonderful flavors, including classic, spice rum, ginger, chocolate caramel, and, of course, coffee.
Just like some of the other caramels on this list, these are made so that they aren’t too tough and sticky for your teeth.
They have a much softer, even gooier taste.
Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels organic Vegan Candy
And finally, one caramel brand for the vegans because we wouldn’t want them to feel left out, would we?
These vegan caramels come in five flavors, including original, coconut sugar, vanilla, sea salt, and espresso.
A lovely soft, and chewy caramel for vegans and people alike to enjoy.
Keto Wise Fat Bombs Crispy Caramels
Time for a caramel that helps out anyone on Keto now.
Yes, Keto Wise Fat Bombs Crispy Caramels are Keto friendly, containing 8g of fat per serving.
Just like so many great caramels, these can give you that boost of energy you need to help get you through the day of work. They also have a delicious coating of chocolate.
Finally
Ahhhhhh. It always makes me feel a bit wistful. Just trying to picture the moment the Pearson Candy Company discovered that they had created a wonderfully delicious caramel that would stand the test of time (albeit not as much as Goetze’s Caramel Creams).
We have Nestle’ to thank for that.
Now go, my friend. Journey back into your past and source some Nips candy, whether it be from Amazon, Walmart, or wherever.
Sit back and enjoy that silky…smooth…creamy texture…
…Or eat a Werther’s Original if you’ve got some in the house and you can’t be bothered to leave.
